The Aging Network is positioned to lead the development of the new volunteer force: those 10,000 boomers turning 65 every day, 6,000 of whom are choosing to retire! “Ready for volunteer prime time” means that you are reading, willing and able to engage these volunteers in expanding the capacity of your organization. (Take our Readiness Assessment to see if your organization is ready.)

Join us to learn more about how you can help encourage aging network agencies to find new volunteers with the Got an Hour? Give it Back Campaign. The “Got an Hour?” Campaign is designed to help local agencies attract volunteers to programs that work with seniors. The webinar will review the “Got an Hour?” Campaign’s downloadable materials, webinars, and a search tool (powered by VolunteerMatch.org) to help connect prospective volunteers with opportunities and programs in their own neighborhood.

Your office can help encourage local agencies and programs to post their volunteer opportunities on the site, and use our marketing materials to draw new volunteers to the network.

    March 18th, 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. EDT

Tom Davis is an example of retired professionas who are looking for ways to share their expertise. He is part of that vast network of Baby Boomers (those in the U.S. born between 1946 and 1964) who are now retiring and looking for ways to contribute their time and talent.

From the field, Emily Thomas of Volunteer Solutions, Fairfax County’s Area Agency on Aging reports that in honor of Older Americans Month they are promoting its 2nd annual VS Helping Hands project. Throughout the entire month of May several volunteer groups and individuals are rolling up their sleeves and helping older adults to remain in their homes by performing tasks such as, deep cleaning, organization, de-cluttering, and yard work. Efforts to partner with community groups and businesses such as Home Depot, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), JCPenney, Avalon’s Angels Cleaning & Maid Services, and DLT Solutions has made this Helping Hands project a huge success
